I’m Lauren Lockhart, MS, OTR, an occupational therapist with more than 13 years of experience helping people participate more successfully in the activities and routines that make up everyday life.
Much of my professional background has been in pediatrics, including early intervention, school-based occupational therapy, evaluation teams, and direct work with families and educators. That experience has shaped the way I approach occupational therapy: understanding a challenge is important, but knowing what to do and being able to make it work in everyday life are often two very different things.
That’s the gap I want Lockhart OT to help fill.
I provide independent occupational therapy consultation and functional support for children and adults, as well as consultation for families, schools, and other organizations. I have a particular interest in supporting neurodivergent individuals, including people with ADHD and autism, who may understand their needs but still struggle to translate that understanding into daily routines, environments, and systems that work for them.
My approach is practical and individualized. Rather than focusing only on what someone “should” be able to do, I look at the person, the task, and the environment to understand where things are breaking down.
Sometimes that means developing strategies. Sometimes it means changing the environment. Sometimes it means taking recommendations from another provider and figuring out what they actually look like on a Tuesday morning at home.
I value collaboration and see my role as complementary to the work of physicians, psychologists, therapists, educators, and other professionals. They may help identify or treat the underlying concern; occupational therapy can help translate that work into everyday function.
